02/01/07 Building Controls & Services, Inc. (BCS) was awarded energy-related contracts by two universities in the State of Pennsylvania. The contracts with Slippery Rock University and Clarion University are aimed at identifying cost effective energy conservation measures that can be funded by the savings generated by their implementation through Energy Performance Contracts. At Slippery Rock University, BCS is investigating improvement options that include replacement of underground steam lines, air handling system upgrades, lighting retrofits, and expansion of the university's direct digital energy management system. At Clarion University, BCS is investigating improvement options that include replacement of the university's central boiler plant, lighting system retrofits, water conservation options, and heating ventilating and air conditioning system upgrades. If approved by the Universities, these Energy Performance Contracts have the potential of generating annual utility cost savings of nearly $ 500,000.
